Dating is tough because you’re nervous and want to make a good impression and this causes stress which makes you focus on all the reasons why a woman won’t want to be with you. Thinking of your flaws is going to make you feel bad about your body and this is worsens when you’re overweight because you worry you’re going to be overlooked for someone better looking. This doesn’t have to be the case, you just need to know how to prepare to get back into the dating scene.
1) Use honest pictures
When you’re overweight you compare yourself to other men and tell yourself no one’s going to find you attractive. It’s tempting to take pictures using certain angle to make you look the best you possible can but these can make you appear differently than you do in real life. This is going to strongly affect your dating life because when you show up for the date and you don’t look like the pictures you sent then she’s going to not bother going on a second date with you. Take pictures that are honest about your appearance and show all of your body so she knows what you really look like because this means only women who don’t care about your weight will message you. It may take longer to meet someone but at least you know they’re attracted to you for who you are which means there’s a better chance of the date turning into a relationship.
2) Deal with your insecurities
Dealing with your insecurities before you start dating again is a good thing to do because it puts you in a more positive state of mind and lets you completely focus on being in a new relationship. If you’re embarrassed about being overweight you need to do something about and this can be a physical and mental change. Physically you can make yourself feel better by exercising, eating more healthy food and wearing clothes that fit properly. A mental change you can make is the way you think of your weight, when you have negative thoughts about it you can stop, take a deep breath and tell yourself that you’re more than how much you weigh. Think of your attributes and keep in mind that if your weight does bother you then you can lose it over time.

Tell her about your hobbies, show her you have a sense of humor by making jokes, talk about your favourite movies and share some of your goals with her. It’s common to have low self-confidence when you have a weight problem and one way of dealing with it is by drawing attention to it before someone else does. People do this as a defense mechanism because it helps them feel in control and they hope that it makes others think it’s not a big deal. One way that overweight people try to cover up their body out is by wearing clothes that are baggy because they think it makes them look smaller. This doesn’t work and it makes them look like they don’t know how to buy clothes in the right size or that they don’t care about their appearance. Women don’t want to be dating a man who can’t be bothered to dress appropriately because it makes them wonder what else he neglects to do. You need to dress appropriately by wearing clothes that fit properly and are flattering for your body so people know you take pride in yourself. Not only does this make you seem more like boyfriend material but it also increases your self-confidence because you know you look better than you did before.
6) Have self-confidence
It’s normal to struggle with your self-confidence when you know you’re neglecting your health and appearance. This isn’t something you can fix over time but you can portray self-confidence while you’re still learning how to feel it for real because over time you get used to being this way. You can do this by talking positively about yourself, making eye contact when talking to women and be obvious about flirting with her instead of doing it in a joking way so she knows you’re serious about dating her. There are many reasons why things go nowhere and it’s easier to overcome rejection when you don’t blame yourself.
